I have always been fond of horses. I started riding in my home country, France, when I was 6 years old, and haven’t stopped ever since! My first job, when I was 16, was already with horses. I spent my summer holidays riding and taking care of the horses for a famous leisure park. For 5 years, I was also a volunteer rider for the night show there. After my studies I flew to Finland, where I found my calling in life: guiding. Indeed after accompanying a few groups for a hike or to observe bears in the wilderness, I came to like entertaining and making people discover the beauty of nature a lot. So it was time I realized one of my childhood dreams: working with sled dogs in Finnish Lapland. After a long winter season, it was time to realize another dream. Still guiding – this is definitely what I wanted to do – but this time in Iceland, with horses. In the South of the country, I discovered the Icelandic horse and all its characteristics. Then came North Iceland, where I was responsible for another horse riding tour stables.

Route details

Arrival at Jörn Train Station with the night train.

We pick you up and drive you to your accommodation, the lovely Lantliv Lodge in Österjörn.

You settle to your room for the week and take a relaxing first morning with breakfast at the lodge, with a breathtaking view on the frozen lake.

After a warm lunch at the lodge, we pick you up and drive you to our farm for a first nice ride in the snow. You meet our fluffy Icelandic horses, prepare them for the tour and get to know a little more about their specificities. When everyone is ready, we take directly the direction of the forest for a 2-hour ride. Tölting in the snow is a unique feeling!

After the ride and a warm drink we drive you back to the lodge where you will enjoy a nice diner.

This is an active holiday. Horse riding, dogsledding, snowshoeing, ski and survival course in temperatures that can sometimes go to -30°C. You will need good physical condition to enjoy it to the fullest!

During the whole stay, you will be staying at the lovely Lantliv Lodge, in the village Österjörn, approximately 30 minutes away from our farm.

You will share a 2-, 3- or 4-bedroom in the Midgård, according to availability and size of the group. The facilities are also shared with the other participants.

All the meals noted “at the lodge” will be served in the beautiful main building, Herrgård. Diners consist of 2 courses and are home made from local products.
