Serbian Woodland Ride

Following breakfast, we ride to Divcibare, a popular ski destination located in the Ore Mountains, which are part of the Dinaric mountains in northwest Serbia. Divcibare is distinguished by its distinctive geography, which creates a favorable climate and provides a diverse and one-of-a-kind plant and animal life. 

From this hill, you have a panoramic view of Divcibare, surrounding mountains and the city of Valjevo. Despite commonly being referred to as a mountain, Divcibare is actually a field on the Maljen mountain. The views from this place are splendid, and it takes 3 hours of riding in the morning with a lunch stop. After that we ride on asphalt roads as it's needed for reaching the overnight place, but don't worry, there are very few cars on these roads, so the horses won't be scared.

Overnight: in Divcibare.

Riding: 4-5 hours.

Today, we go on a journey through the vast Serbian steppe, which bears a striking resemblance to the landscapes of Mongolia. The power and beauty of this steppe are truly awe-inspiring. As we gaze upon the 360-degree view, get ready to feel the space and freedom these places have. No travelers or horses are normally met on this way. In the afternoon, we finally arrive at the majestic Mount Rajac.

Overnight: near Mount Rajac.

Riding: 5-6 hours. This riding day is expected to be long, we will ride around 30-35km, and some terrain will be challenging. 

We take a shorter ride to Kostunici. By by lunchtime we arrive there. The ethno-village Kostunici is situated in a picturesque region of Serbia, nestled on the southern side of the Suvobor mountain. The origin of the village's name remains a mystery. 

Just above Kostunici lies Ravna Gora, a historically significant place that has been remarkably preserved in its original beauty. Additionally, there are other breathtaking attractions to explore, such as Vidikovac, Babina Glava and Mokra pecina.

Visitors can enjoy swimming in a lake located within the ethno-village and surrounded by the Cer forest. 

For collectors of ethnic artifacts, there are pottery and handicraft shops available.

Overnight: in Kostunici.
Riding: 2-3 hours.

We are departing from the Serbian steppe and making our way back to the Dinaric Alps. This shift from the mountainous grasslands to the Dinaric Alps is truly remarkable and demonstrates the significant transformation of the surrounding natural environment in this region.

We head to spend a night in Gostoljublje - another ethno-village located 140 km from Belgrade.

Overnight: in Gostoljublje.

Riding: 5-6 hours.

We return to the paths of the ancient Romans who took Dubrovnik, crossing over the Povlen mountain. On the way, we visit the Taor water springs. A glass of cold water on a hot summer day is very refreshing.

We find a small watermill which has remained from very old times. 

The pleasant ambiance and way of life in the highlands are emphasized by the delicious food and the charm of the miller. Following a visit to the nearby miller, you ascend to the authentic farm where you can indulge in a dinner accompanied by rakija. This provides an opportunity to discuss and exchange thoughts and experiences from the ride. Today's journey is typically less demanding and shorter, although the route may be adjusted if conditions allow for more time on horseback.
