The journey will take you through the International Natural Park of the Tagus, spanning Spain and Portugal. You'll traverse the border twice using historic smuggling paths, exploring mountains, plains, canyons, rivers and a lake where you may encounter vultures, eagles, foxes and rabbits. Hours may pass without encountering another person, immersing you in nature. You'll visit a newly unearthed Roman amphitheater and be guided to Marvão, a village frozen in time from the Middle Ages, deemed a must-see by Time Magazine. Discover Castelo de Vide and Valencia de Alcántara, with their Gothic architecture and winding streets adorned with arches, facades and coats of arms.

And the cuisine! Enjoy authentic dishes made with fresh local ingredients during your stay in the countryside.

We are a family business working on the border between Spain and Portugal. We have always had horses. Most of the current ones are the descendants of our family's horses, so they too are like family to us. For the long tours, we use the young ones, well behaved and of course very beautiful! I am your main tour guide and also an archaeologist, so I will explain to you every historical item we see in our routes (there will be plenty!). Looking forward to meeting you!

    about provider
My girlfriend and I had an amazing time during our vacation. Sara and her family were incredibly welcoming and skilled, and we were matched perfectly with our horses. As a novice rider, this experience left me eager to return. The ride offered stunning views of the scenery, and wildlife with Sara providing knowledgeable guidance throughout. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by - you won't be let down ❤️

    about provider
Sara and her family gave us the most unforgettable tour of Portugal. This was our last adventure after traveling through various regions of Portugal (Porto-Douro-Madeira-Alentejo) and the tour was truly enchanting. The horseback ride was challenging, but the well-trained and well-cared-for horses gave us, my husband, and our 11-year-old son the confidence to enjoy the experience. Since returning to the USA, we can't stop talking about it. The entire experience, from start to finish, was breathtaking and a definite must for anyone exploring Alentejo! We can't wait to return!
