Celestial Mountains Ride

We depart from Bishkek and head towards the Suusamyr valley, making a stop at the local bazaar to purchase provisions for our 5-day horseback riding adventure. Our next leg of the journey will take us along the intriguing route of the Too Ashuu pass, offering a stunning view of the Suusamyr valley after passing through a tunnel. Upon reaching Otmok, our equestrian guide and horses will be ready for us to embark on our horseback riding expedition through the Suusamyr valley.

During the second day of our horseback riding trip, we will traverse the final stretch of the Suusamyr valley before ascending the Jaisan pass at a height of 3600 m. We will leave the expansive grasslands of the steppe behind us as we continue on horseback for another 2 hours to reach our yurt camp.

Following our morning meal in the traditional yurt, we will assist our guide in preparing the horses for our journey to Lake Borukorboz. We will enjoy a picnic by the lake before returning to camp to participate in a game of Kokboru with the local nomads, competing for the goat carcass to score goals. After the game, we will prepare a dinner featuring goat meat.

Today, we will bid farewell to our shepherd companions and ride on horseback to Toktogul. Before tackling the second pass at an altitude of over 3400m, we will ride by the Sharkiratma waterfall. Once we have crossed the pass, we will descend into another gorge known as Japyrtmak.

This day will be the longest, as we slowly and steadily ascend the Uzun Kiya Ridge. After crossing two passes, we will make our way down towards the Kodul gorge, feeling the heat of the Ketmen Tyube valley and witnessing a complete change in landscape. We will be treated to a stunning view of Toktogul Lake before setting up tent camp near beekeepers.

The final day of the traveling horseback journey takes us to Toktogoul Lake. Those who are bold can take a swim with the horses, as they are strong swimmers. Although some of the younger horses may initially resist entering the water, with some persistence, we can encourage them to join in the swim.

The path to the village of Kizart, situated at the base of the Song-Kul mountains, will take us alongside the Kokomerene river as it winds through a stunning canyon adorned with vibrant red ocher hues.

We plan to hike for 5-6 hours through the Kilemché valley to reach Lake Son-Kol. Once we reach the "Jalguiz Karagaï" pass, we will be greeted by a stunning landscape. From there, we will descend and walk along the eastern shore of the lake for about 45 minutes until we reach Tourous Baiké and Mira éjé.

Song Kol is a paradise on earth. During these 2 days we will take advantage of the place to do some galloping and admire the calm life of the Kyrgyz nomads.

In the afternoon we return on horseback to the village of Kizart.

Transfer to Issik-Kul, the second largest high-altitude lake in the world after Titi-Kaka. We will stop at Kochkor for lunch. Afternoon, swimming and rest at the lake.

We will visit Bokonbayev to witness a demonstration of eagle hunting, and then we will shop at the local bazaar for the evening. Later in the day, we will head to the Ak-Sai canyons near Lake Issik-Kul for a walk and some swimming. We will spend the night camping by the lake.

Return to Bishkek. Stop on the road to visit the Burana Tower. In the evening, farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant.
