The tour takes us through the colorful landscape between Hekla volcano and Tindafjallajökull glacier, renowned for its stunning natural beauty shaped by volcanic and glacial forces. We ride on soft paths through black sandy ground covered with green grass and lava fields, surrounded by the mystical volcanic formations created by Hekla's eruptions over the centuries. The trail follows an old Viking path ridden by Gunnar from Hlíðarendi in Njál´s Saga during his battles. We explore hidden valleys, vast green pastures and mighty rivers, experiencing the natural force and mystique of Hekla, along with elements from the old Sagas. The combination of breathtaking scenery, magnificent horses and fantastic riding paths creates unforgettable memories. Riders can try different horses each day, enhancing their riding skills and experiencing the diversity of Icelandic horses in their natural habitat, far from civilization.

    about provider
This ride was my first activity in Iceland and turned out to be a great start! The staff is very well prepared and the horses are very easy to ride - especially the tölt which was fun to try! We got on the horses right away and spent almost the whole duration riding. That was great!

    about provider
The establishment was well-structured and professional, with guides who were friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. The horses were charming and impeccably behaved. Among our group, three members possessed considerable riding expertise, while one had limited experience. Nonetheless, our guide adeptly matched our mounts to our respective skill levels and adjusted the difficulty of the ride accordingly, ensuring a delightful experience for all. Even our less experienced rider found the tolt technique comfortable and enjoyable. The excursion lasted 1.5 hours, meandering through picturesque countryside, encompassing a serene river crossing, and offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. We delighted in spotting whooper swans and ravens during our journey. Our guide also stopped for photos of us on horseback. Riding the Icelandic Horse was truly a pleasure, the team ensured it was so enjoyable. Thank you for a lovely equine experience on our trip to Iceland.
