Come along on an exciting autumn journey with the farmers as they drive the herd, sort the horses and celebrate the successful return of horses and men. Explore diverse landscapes including highland moors, colorful valleys, blue lakes, rivers and Kolugljúfur gorge. Starting from the Farm in the North, we ride along well-established tracks to meet up with the Icelanders gathering horses. Together, we drive the herd to Víðidalstungurétt corral and join in the local festivities, including a traditional ball. The following day, witness the thrilling process of sorting the horses and foals from the herd.

Haukur
Haukur and family live in a Farm in Vatnsdalur in North Iceland. Haukur along with his daughters operates several of our tours. Haukur has four children and many many horses. His wonderful family and staff helps him operate the tours. Haukur is always cheerful and it’s so much fun when he takes out his guitar starts playing and singing with our guests.

Day 1
Sveinsstaðir
Pick up from BSÍ bus station in Reykjavík at 08:30 for a transfer by bus from Reykjavík to Haukur's Farm, where we meet horses and guides. We visit a factory outlet with woolen goods on our way.
We start our ride through Vatnsdalur valley. This beautiful valley is the setting of the Vatnsdæla-Saga. We ride along the banks of River Vatnsdalsá before crossing over to the western side of the valley.
Our ride ends at Sveinsstaðir Farm and we return to Haukur's Farm for our overnight stay. (25 km)

The farm is situated in the beautiful Vatnsdalur Valley which is so full of the old Sagas and has the famous salmon fishing river Vatnsdalsá running down the middle. The farmhouse was renovated 4 years ago and has a hot tub in the garden with a view over the river.
