Hærvejen Trail

You can have breakfast at the hotel starting at 7 a.m. After that, we will gather in the stable at 9 o'clock to get the horses ready and gather the necessary equipment. Our plan is to head to Viborg, unpack our things and explore the surrounding area on horseback.

We journey through the well-known Dollerup hills, surrounded by oak, beech and coniferous forests. At an elevation of 63 meters, there is a breathtaking panoramic view of the southern and eastern sections of Hald Lake, Denmark's third deepest lake. Afterward, we head to the Midtysk Riding club in Kjellerup with our horses.

We ride together through the Kompedale plantation, which is one of the biggest continuous plantations in Jutland. The streets and avenues, with their gravel paths and greenery, bear a resemblance to many American cities.

We travel through Store Hjøllund Plantation to Hampen, where we will be staying at another Bed & Breakfast. While there, we have the option to have an excursion into the wilderness bath on the charming farm. The majority of Store Hjøllund Plantation is made up of coniferous trees, and we may encounter wildlife on the ground and admire it in the sky. There is even a chance of spotting a wolf.

This will be the lengthiest part of the journey, spanning around 30 kilometers. We will pass through the charming town of Vrads, home to the world's most exquisite grocery store. The route then meanders through stunning natural landscapes, including the unique Vrad area with its sandy dunes. We will ride in the Nedergårdund forest and stay overnight in a vacation cabin at the Riis holiday park.

We travel through Jelling and catch sight of the well-known Jelling-stone from Randbøldal before moving on to Egtved. At Egtved, the driver is waiting for us and the horses are picked up.
